A Year Long Birthday

Once every year a certain day will appear on the calendar and will change your age forever.

A one day pass is handed to you with an exciting beginning but like everything else, it also has an ending.

A grim reminder that this day takes us a little further away from the day of our true beginnings and that is moving away towards an uncertain ending.

On this day we find joy in letting people spoil us with presents, cakes, and other niceties. You will be the person of everybody’s attention.

No matter how hard you try and prepare for your next birthday you can only do better if you realise that your birthday is not just one day on the calendar but instead it is the summary of the whole year celebrated on this special day.

On this day we should reassess the past to see what we have done, then examine the present in what we are doing and look into the future to see how better we can do.

So your birthday is that day to reflect your life exactly the one calendar year that has passed by even with the tremendous effort put in to celebrate this day well; one can never be totally prepared for the next one if one looks at a birthday as a single day instead of one entirely well spent the year.

The next time, when you blow the candles off on your birthday, remember that even if you did not have a great year but wish and pray hard that you plan to celebrate a truly successful one next year.

Happy Birthday.

Colours of a Peacock

Colours of a Peacock Nestled deep in an oil palm plantation in the humble town of Maran in central West Malaysia, is a century-old Hindu temple that rears peacocks. The peacock is considered sacred because mythology has it that it is the preferred mode of transportation of Lord Subramanian, who is also the patron deity of worship in the said temple. The peacock never seems to amaze me with its awesome coat of colours that it wears, especially when it fans out its feathers in a courtship ritual. What truly inspires me from this, is to appreciate the finer details of every colour application that exists around us.  There is not a single thing in nature that is off colour or coloured in bad taste, it simply means that God has coloured everything we see meticulously with perfect design and taste. We are then, only left with the task to view, appreciate, replicate and occasionally write about it in absolution. EDit. This picture was taken during a visit to Maran Maruth...

Synchronicity (Video)

Eashwer Dass Synchronicity This is an experiment of removing the original soundtrack of three different Indian classical dances and replacing it with only one randomly chosen soundtrack. The outcome is quite amazing, it is almost as if there is an auto choreographic built-in mechanism that magically synchronises the two almost perfectly. EDit.
