African Hospitality

African  This is a picture of an African man meditating in his humble dwelling, who allowed our photographer to shoot him but not before giving her something cool to drink and plenty to think. He portrays the mysticism of the black, brown and ebony children of Africa living in the 54 states that make her their home. With the sound of a DSLR, Canon’s triggering mechanism, as the background beat. I put this little rhyme together, calling it an African anthem of gratitude for a treat. Think of the shutter sound while reciting this praise. A mellowed look, he wore a forlorn face. On this hot day, I gladly gulped it down with not a drop to trace. This ole man offered me, what I thought was lemonade. He offered me another one with his shiny eyes like Jade. His eyes showed kindness, saying plenty about the African race. amesege’nallo, Zikomo Kwambiri, may-dah-say, i-ni-cheh, bah-si-...

Tour De-tox

Dream Team In a dream one night, there was a blurred vision of a swarm of butterflies zooming in from a distance, which then gradually transformed into hundreds of agitated moths approaching rapidly towards my face. Up close, these deadly looking moths turned out to be miniature airborne stainless steel razor sharp surgical scalpels with minute wings rapidly flapping, propelling them forward. Just like miniature attack helicopters, they were mounted on and operated by tiny animated angioplasty, stents, which were the pilots flying these scalpels. These pilots were strapped with little backpacks which had unreadable labels sewed onto them. The entire event seemed as if it was a scene from a digitally animated cartoon . Meanwhile, my mouth was frothing from being forcibly kept open by a nickel plated dental contraption making my oral cavity the passage   for these little mounted metallic winged vermins to fly in. Thes...

Pls-lahRakyat: Suiting up the President

POSTED ON  FEBRUARY 8, 2017  BY  ADMIN Standard Issue  Whether be it a triumphant Trump or a Hillary, the suit they will wear would be of a standard issue worn by all their Presidents. This is not the case with only the American presidency, but it is a universal reality that follows after an election in any country. Promises and canvassing are only done before an election, but the real thing is to walk the talk after attaining the official five-year lease and keys to the White House.  Unfortunately, the walking ends with the talking when the sitting in office begins. The changes they will make after their victory may not be as real as their campaign promises and most of the time, not even close to the spoken word. Donald Trump monopolised  and influenced the voters by playing on the sentiments of a  frustrated America by prescribing new fixes to the huge problems that it faced for being the Policeman of the globe.  ...

Please-Iah Rakyat: One Slap

POSTED ON  MAY 28, 2017  BY  ADMIN Slapstick The National Transformation 2050 or TN50 Dialogue for the entertainment industry presented some spectacular first-hand action both live and on social media recently. The superb display of skills from local artists performing without a storyline, dialogue scripts, screenplay or direction created some great entertainment on the go. This was a feat, almost identical, but still only second to the style and scruples that powered our politics. It was simply an overdose of raw talent at its best that Malaysians are known to have in abundance and a performance that had our entire nation pay tribute in a standing ovation. A slapstick comedy performed by characters with glamorous stage names like Mat Over, TEOCEO and the accidental appearance by our own Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak made it a night to remember. A peep or a real-time vision of what entertainment is going to be like in 2050, ...

Please-Iah Rakyat: Moving People Matters

POSTED ON  JUNE 6, 2017  BY  ADMIN Fast and Carbonless Electric Ride Seeking employment in Malaysia is not a problem, but getting to work every day is!  Earning a respectable remuneration is the critical issue that keeps the locals away from jobs that currently employ foreigners. In the larger metropolitan business hubs where the opportunities of employment are better, the equation of time, distance and money just do not balance. The distances that separate homes from workplaces, will for many show their income range. The reason for this is that it is cheaper to live further away from the city, and which boils down to travelling time and money spent on it by them. Their option is to either commute daily from home or to share accommodation to be closer to work, saving time and money, which is alright, only if one is single. Foreigners are sardine packed into low-cost accommodations and are shuttled to work in buses in an almost...

Please-Iah Rakyat: Unbecoming of Zaman

POSTED ON MAY 20, 2017  BY  ADMIN An ERA unbecoming The recent tragedy of a young educationist , who was possessed by a pretty spirit, managed to steal the pretty spirit’s fragile wand of faith  and use it as a ladle to stir the huge pot of local political lava.  Malaysia, blessed with a landscape absent of volcanoes, which therefore necessitates Malaysians, to concoct lava artificially with the aid of some warped imagination which needs to be constantly stirred to satiate the binge for unrest. The well-read lecturer, who is also the head of the political faculty of a known University, was inspired by the spiritual motivation of the pretty spirit’s success after he read pretty’s book. His admiration for her devout aspirations of her ‘Becoming’ was curdled as soon as his unbecoming became evident and he smeared her on Facebook. Instead of visiting a Bomoh to exorcise the residing spirit in him, he visits a police station to lodge a poli...

Pls-lah America: Wag the Dog

1. SEPTEMBER 9, 2017  BY  ADMIN TRUMPMATIC The induction of the word,  TRUMPMATIC , as a derogatory term into the American vocabulary carrying a meaning of unpredictable behaviour or Chaos, was Mr Trump’s prime achievement in his 100 days of a Trumpmatic run as the President of the USA. Clearly, the live action produced by the White House with real-time dramas captivating a global audience on CNN, which nevertheless has now become the latest box office channel to tune in to. A Hollywood styled fast-rising actor cum director, painter, and a no holds barred tweeting Politician; the President of the United States is driving not only Americans but the rest of the world to follow him with great enthusiasm. Tenancy to the Oval office entitles the President to nurture his artistic abilities even if he is not  artistic. He has acquired a position of power which gives him the total Freedom and right to exercise his Trumpmatic expressions whichever...

Retire only when you die.

An avatar of grapes Grapes, by itself, are fruit fit for a sage or fermented to an exotic beverage, a wine maturing with age. Whichever be its derivative, the fact remains that, it will still be just grape. A Good Question   The plan on how to retire and what to do with your time after retirement is never quite on anyone’s mind. If you are still employed or actively engaged in earning a living just ask yourself this-what are you going to do when you stop working?  People strive only to attain financial security for their grand retirement, without having any real plans on what to do when they arrive at it. What just exactly is retirement?   We shape our destiny   In our journey from adulthood to the unknown future, there are several phases we pass through. But one thing for certain is that, whether we move forward or stand still, it is definitely not due to the design of destiny. Instead, it is an outcome that is either inspired by our...

Write it Right

Good reads are articles written, through a partnership of great people, memorable events, both good and bad, but most importantly, it is the work of great writers that inspire us to tell our stories after reading theirs’. Every article or story is, in essence, someone else‘s work with renewed enthusiasm. Without being any exception to this, my objectives are to write and exhibit the irony in the habits of man, which makes him peculiar and vulnerable when we compare all the different hats he wears.  E D.

Karpal Singh is no more!

Karpal  Singh   i s  no more! A sad day has dawned onto a country that is in its midst of going through a struggle to make critical corrections to transform itself into a first world democratic class nation.  The “TIGER OF JELUTONG” a title bestowed upon by his constituents for his  fervour  to uphold the law and their constitutional rights voiced by his iconic roar. A voice demanding for changes that is a sounding board very much in need to awaken this country. This voice along with its possessor has been crushed to silence in a gruesome road mishap that has ended his life, aspirations and his quest to complete his mission.  A COG WHEEL HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE NATION’S MACHINERY FOR FREEDOM AND JUSTICE … will  the machinery slow down and come to a grinding halt? Or will it be a new beginning to the continuation of this struggle by more inspired and equally fierce roars?  Yes, it is indeed a painful ...

Gray Transit

I am like some, who is trying to crawl out of the dark into the light, but am caught in the transit of gray areas the longest, pondering whether to crawl back to where I came from or soldier on patiently.

Awe In Cliches

A Cliché as said in the dictionary means, an expression that has been overused to the extent that it loses its original meaning or novelty. A cliché may also refer to actions and events which are predictable because of some previous events..... AWE IN CLICHES More than just most people will succumb to accommodate the idea of change with something that evolves constantly with time so much so that it tends to become a trend.  On the other hand people also accept certain routines to be almost sacred, although it does not seem logical to practice them, but it is customary and considered a norm. Take the matter of the iPhone as an example, the bizarre desire for the consumer to upgrade his device to a newer model, even before he can finish paying off for the current one after maxing his credit card or getting the hang of using all its functions to efficiently operate it, is something completely beyond my imagination. The queues in line to get their hands on one of these ...

Kawah Ratu, The Queen;s Crater

Queen’s Crater, Mt.  TangkubanPerahu  Indonesia       Be still, O my Queen, be still, for your  breathtaking  beauty lies only when you remain in eternal tranquillity, only then can I feast on your magnificence thru the mouth of my hungry lenses.  Be still, O  my Queen,  please be still, for all the king’s men and horses  cannot put together what you destroy when you dance in  restlessn ess,  invoking brush-less strokes of artistry,  and  the fiery  spews   of molten rock being your palette of paint, using  Kawah Ratu as your easel,  you  transform disaster  into  a landscape of ravishing scenic beauty... Then, with my burning passion and desire, I will be back once again to zoom in on you.‘’ EDit. Photography :  ShobhaGopinath  ...

Squeeze Pack

The rule of thumb for packing when going on a short trip is to take a 10 squeeze toothpaste tube instead of a family size one.

Frugal

To become a little wiser you have to sometimes be a miser.

Copy Rite

How did God look at things when he created us and everything we see around us?  The design of everything created is so perfect, is this a copy of his world or is this his world?

Death Wish

Lust to not let go of what you have found in living and your refusal to surrender to death when not really knowing that probably more awaits you in the place where you are going after death.

Mute Mode

Little necessities of frustration  I have gone to become quieter now, I rest my vocals resting on my laurels, screaming at the top of my voice, in totally mute mode and scribe soundless screams into epitaphs of dead dreams, all in pursuit without any loss in fidelity and as what it exactly means.
